Why We Don’t Do the Hard Sell — And Never Will

Inviting someone into your home is a big deal. It’s personal. It’s about trust. So we think it’s only fair that you know exactly who you’re letting in, what they’re there for, and — let’s be honest — how long they might be sitting on your sofa.

In the world of fitted furniture, most companies send out reps to measure up and whip up a design using the same industry-standard software (it’s called Articad, if you’re curious). But here’s the strange part: even if two reps from the same company design the exact same wardrobe, you might get two very different prices.

Why? Because they’re working on commission. The software gives them a base price, and they’re allowed to offer discounts — but those discounts come straight out of their own earnings. So they’re trying to figure out how much you’re willing to pay before they reveal the price. After sizing up your home, your style, and maybe even your postcode, they’ll pitch a number that’s as high as they think they can get away with.

And those “limited-time offers”? They’re not about giving you a deal. They’re about nudging you to make a snap decision. It’s pressure dressed up as generosity.

We’ve heard stories of reps staying in people’s homes for hours — five, six, even more — wearing down the customer until they sign just to get their living room back. Unsurprisingly, the top earners weren’t interior designers. They came from the double glazing world, where the hard sell is practically an art form.

At Dreambedrooms, we don’t play that game. We don’t want to waste your time — or ours. That’s why we give you a clear idea of costs before we even step through your door. Our visit is about refining the design, making sure it’s the perfect fit for your space, and double-checking the measurements.

When you fill out our enquiry form, we ask for a few extra details so we can prepare properly. That way, when we have our discovery call (usually around 45 minutes), we’re ready with designs and pricing — no surprises, no pressure, just a relaxed conversation about what works best for you.
